Application for Summer Internship in areas of Petroleum Research, Environment and Climate Change Research, Solar Energy Research and Geographic Information System, is invited from interested students pursuing B. Tech./M.Tech./M.Sc. in Geophysics/Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering for internship, expected to begin from 10/20 May, 2014, for a minimum period of 60 to a maximum of 90 days. The maximum number of interns to be selected in this year is fifteen (15 Nos.).
Interested students may submit the application forwarded by their HoD’s in the prescribed format enclosed, latest by 28th February, 2014. Separate letters are also sent to Dept. of the reputed institutes / universities.  
About the Organization:
Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI) is a registered Society and Trust promoted by the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, the state Public Sector Undertaking.
Appreciating the field-specific manpower need of energy sector, GERMI undertook the stupendous task of establishing Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University at Gandhinagar by the Gujarat State Legislature Act. The University has six constituent Institutions offering world-class quality of education, training and opportunities focal research. These are School of Petroleum Technology, School of Petroleum Management, School of Technology, School of Liberal Studies, School of Solar Energy and School of Nuclear Energy.

GERMI Research Innovation and Incubation Centre (GRIIC) envisage promoting pilot projects, patenting and incubation of ideas as well as innovations. It provides arena of work on the consideration of ability and commitment of an individual rather than her/his mere formal eligibility to undertake research in academic terms.
With its mandate for enhancing talent pool in energy sector, GERMI has organized several training programmes also from time to time for professionals in the energy sector.
Eligibility of Students:
  • Only B. Tech./M.Tech./M.Sc. (Tech) / M.Sc. students are eligible to apply for this internship program.
  • Pre-final or final year students will only be considered.
  • Students majoring in Geophysics/Civil/Electrical/Mechanical, with interest in Hydrocarbons (Oil & Gas), Solar Energy and Environment are eligible to apply.
  • Student should be available to spend atleast 60 days at GERMI.
Details of Internship Projects (tentative):
Petroleum wing:
  • Seismic data analysis and interpretation of oil and gas exploration data.
  • Rock sample analysis and interpretation in GERMI’s lab.
  • Geotectonic and Geodynamics
Renewable Energy wing:
  • Applied science related to renewable energy
  • Basic science projects related to Chemically-derived graphene/n-Si heterojunction solar cell and Junction investigation of hybrid inorganic/organic heterojunction solar cell
Environmental wing:
  • Biogas generation and utilization
  • Energy efficiency in industries
Support Provided by GERMI:
  • Students will be provided a fellowship of Rs. 15,000/- per month payable after two months of the successful completion of the internship program.
  • Transportation expenses (To and Fro) by Train AC III tier/Bus fare for joining at GERMI office and return will be reimbursed to the student on actual basis after the successful completion of the internship program.
  • Additionally, students will be provided free accommodation facility during the entire internship program.
  • Proper guidance and support from our scientists will be provided for the internship project.
  • They will be given internet connectivity to carry out their research work and students are expected to come with their own laptop computers.
  • Based on the work assigned, students may also be required to travel.
 Note: Students will have to make arrangement for food and local transportation on their own.
Application and Selection Process:
  • Prior to submitting an application, the student should review the GERMI website, to know its background and to understand the areas of research of GERMI and the facilities available.
  • Students will have to fill a form enclosed with this notification and submit us through email only (internship@germi.res.in) through proper channel.
  • Students will also have to submit their resume, which will help us to shortlist the final students.
  • The applications, the forms and the resumes received from the students shall be reviewed for completeness and eligibility and also the facilities.
  • A final list of shortlisted students for the internship program will be intimated to their respective institutes and also to the students by mid-March-2014.
Last Date for submission of application:28th February, 2014 is the deadline for receiving Application Form at GERMI through email. The application should be sent to: internship@germi.res.in.
Other Important Notes/Instructions:
  • Applications should be sent from the respective institution or by students duly signed by HoD’s.
  • All students are considered as guest researchers and are subject to GERMI’s regulations with regard to internship eligibility, facility access, professional conduct, and drug and alcohol use or possession.
  • The ability to work without supervision in a careful and conscientious manner is essential.
  • The selected students will have to give an undertaking to GERMI on IPR to the effect that he/she will have no right/claim on the report submitted by him/her to the GERMI after completion of the internship except submission to his/her university/institute and the GERMI shall be free to use the same in the manner considered appropriate by it.
  • The students should also give a declaration that he/she will maintain complete secrecy and shall not use for any other purpose any information of confidential nature that might come to his/her knowledge during the period of internship.
  • All the students need to submit a report to GERMI at the end of the internship program, on the research activities carried out at GERMI, duly signed by their project guide at GERMI.

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is a premier national centre for research and development in theoretical as well as experimental astronomy, astrophysics and related physics. The main campus of the institute is in Koramangala, Bangalore. It operates observational facilities at Kodaikanal, Kavalur, Gauribidanur and Hanle over a wide range of electromagnetic spectrum, and experimental facilities at its campus in Hosakote near Bangalore. It is participating in national and international development projects on ground-based as well as space-borne facilities.

With an aim of motivating students from colleges and universities across the country to research, IIA has instituted various programmes. As part of these programmes, IIA organizes summer programmes every year, wherein students are exposed to research in Astronomy and Astrophysics. The summer programmes consist of
 (a) School in Physics and Astrophyscis to be held at the Kodaikanal Observatory, Kodaikanal during May 12 - 23, 2014 and 
(b) Summer Project Program to be carried out at Koramangala, Bangalore during 24 May - 11 July 2014. Students can apply online for summer programmes - 2014.

Selected students for the School in Physics and Astrophysics will be provided free boarding/lodging at Kodaikanal and reimbursed second class rail/bus fare at the shortest route between the place of residence or study and Kodaikanal. Students selected for the Summer Project Program will be paid a fellowship of Rs. 10,000 per month (prorated) with paid accommodation and food at subsidized rates at the IIA campus in Bangalore during the period of the program. The Department of Chemical Engineering at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai (formerly UDCT, Mumbai) is a premier centre for educational and research excellence in India.  We provide an environment and resources for research and learning that exist in only a handful of other institutions in the country.  The UGC-Networking Resource Centre at the Department of Chemical Engineering, provides funds to support up to 30 undergraduate student interns over the summer. IIHS Internships 2014

IIHS is now accepting applications from Indian and International Masters (including recent Masters) and Ph.D. students for internships at IIHS for periods between 2 and 6 months, from May to December 2014.
IIHS Internships aim to equip students to learn more about practice and research in their chosen fields, as well as immerse themselves in a unique interdisciplinary and innovative environment. Internships at IIHS straddle diverse disciplines such as technology, management, planning, public policy, law, environmental services, media study, economics and the social sciences.
IIHS Interns will be immersed in a rich learning environment involved in  cutting edge themes. Interdisciplinary projects at IIHS are based on various themes involving  one or more of the following research clusters:
  • Economic development
  • Environment, Climate change& sustainability
  • Law, Governance & public policy
  • Human development
  • Urban systems & infrastructure
EligibilityIIHS is looking for interns who are committed to excellence, learning, and are willing to work both independently and, as part of interdisciplinary teams. Previous professional work experience and academic coursework in the chosen field for at least two continuous months is desirable but is not necessary.
Proficiency in written and oral English, willingness to take on variety of tasks as needed, ability to meet deadlines, along with, good interpersonal skills will help ensure a successful internship.
Students from across a diversity of fields (as indicated above) are eligible to apply.

TIFR's Centre for Applicable Mathematics is a unique centre of research, with the faculty working in both pure and applied areas of mathematics. Every year we offer summer internships to several undergraduate and graduate students from around the country to work with faculty on various research projects culminating sometimes in new results. These internships typically take place during the summer, though it is possible to have them at another time of the year. You may discuss the options once you are selected. The aim of this internship is to expose the student to an academic research experience and for the student to work towards problems of importance. The students are expected to have the ability to work fairly independently and to have a strong desire to be problem solvers. At the end of the internship, the students will be required to make a presentation and write a report of their work.
Period of Internship:
Summer internship is typically for a length of 1 or 2 months between May - July of each year, though longer internships and/or other times of the year are possible as well.

IISER Pune invites applications from research oriented students to participate in its Summer Student Programme, 2014. Successful applicants will have an opportunity to participate in the research programmes of IISER-Pune faculty. Research activities in IISER-Pune span both theory and experiment in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics with a strong focus on interdisciplinary research. These summer projects are also an opportunity for students to evaluate the suitability of various programmes at IISER-Pune (Integrated PhD and PhD) for future career choice.
This application form is meant for students of educational institutions other than those of IISER-Pune.
The web application form for IISER-Pune students will be made available after 15th February 2014.

Summer projects selected through the Indian Academy of Science will not require to go through this registration process.

Eligibility & Requirements

Students currently (at the time of application) studying in the
2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of B.Sc/B.Tech/B.E or equivalent
1st year of M.Sc/M.Tech or equivalent.


Minimum 60% (or equivalent) in overall grades, or 80% in the particular stream(s) of interest.

Internship at The S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences







SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAMME 2014

The S. N Bose National Centre announces the Summer Research Programme to be conducted during
May to July 2014 for students in first /second year of M.Sc in Physical, Chemical (including
Biophysics and Chemical Biology) and Mathematical Sciences. The project will be for a period of
eight weeks (with no break) under the supervision of a Faculty Member of SNBNCBS in an area of
mutual interest. Stay for a period less than eight weeks will not be entertained. At the end of the project,
students are required to give a presentation of their work and also submit a project report. The Centre
will provide each student an honorarium of Rs 2,000 per week to cover the hostel and other expenses.
They will be allowed to use the library and other facilities in the Centre. The outstation students will be  reimbursed with AC III Tier return Train Fare (except Rajdhani, Duronto and similar trains) between their place of work or residence and Kolkata. The list of members of the faculty of the Centre and their field of research are available in the web-page of the Centre. Interested students, with consistent good academic record may directly write to the below mentioned contact with a note on the preferred listing of two Faculty members with whom they would like to associate. Students must contact the respective faculty members before sending the application. A Letter of Recommendation by the Head of the
Department or by a senior member of the Faculty, who has taught the student, should accompany the
application. The last date of receiving the application is 7 March 2014. The decision will be published
in the web-page of the Centre by the end of March.

Internship at IIT Guwahati





 

General Information on Internship at the Department of Civil Engineering,IITG


There is no application fee.

Only those candidates appearing in the 3rd Year of their B.E./B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering are eligible for this program. But mere possession of the minimum qualification does not entitle a candidate to be offered a position for summer training.

Candidates may contact faculty members in the Dept. of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati, for their consent as supervisor and can identify possible projects for summer training prior to their application. Candidates having consent from the supervisor can send the signed Application Form mentioning the name of the supervisor along with a letter of reference from the HOD/Supervisor of the parent University/Institution and the same must be submitted before the last date of application.

Incomplete applications NOT in the prescribed format without the name of the supervisor, cover letter, the letter of reference from the parent Institute and the application not signed will be rejected.

The Department of Civil Engineering reserves the right to fill or not to fill any or all the positions.
Laboratory/Library/Computer Centre may be used for academic purpose only with prior approval from the person in-charge (in this context, the candidate should note that the regular students (whole time/part time) of the department receive priority to use these facilities for their Alma matters). However, anybody found misusing these facilities (like chatting, surfing, playing music or videos) will be barred from these facilities without prior notice/warning. Furthermore, anybody found mishandling/misusing these facilities, which leads to damage to will be held responsible to reimburse them.

No stipend will be offered by the Dept. of Civil Engineering or IITG. However, in exceptional cases, supervisor may provide financial help from his research/consultancy projects as per Institutes rule.

Candidates may stay in the hostels within IITG Campus, which will be allotted as per Institutes rule.

Eligibility: Bachelors (3rd or 4th year) and Masters students
Average duration: 3 months (could be more in certain cases). These internships can be availed at any time during 2014 subject to consent from the faculty mentor. 
Fellowship amount: Rs. 10,000 per month. In addition, outstation interns can receive up to Rs. 5000 per month for accommodation and Rs. 3000 for travel from and to their home place.
