The intern will work closely with very talented researchers to create and deliver innovative technical solutions, publish papers in top conferences and journals, contribute to the generation of patents, and pursue breakthrough research in a challenging and stimulating environment. We offer internships to students from the best universities around the world. Internships are usually given for a period ranging from 3 to 12 months.
Applicants will work on interesting projects in one or more of the following areas:
  • Big Data analysis and visualization based on data from real life applications
  • Mobile and Pervasive Computing that implement real life solutions with particular focus on developing innovative mobile tools and technologies catering to the needs of emerging markets
  • Sophisticated Data analytics of social media text, video, speech or images to gain business insights using techniques from machine learning, graph analysis, statistical and stochastic modeling, natural language processing and semantic web
  • Distributed Systems with particular emphasis on cloud computing, web/business process optimization and large scale software systems

Qualifications


The ideal candidate for the research intern position will:
  • Be enrolled in a PhD (or Master's with thesis) program in Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Have excellent programming skills in Java, C, scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby, Scala, etc. and/or application development platforms like Android
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Visiting/Summer Student Programme

The Institute has a limited programme for highly motivated bachelor's and master's students interested in mathematics to visit the Institute. Selected students will have an opportunity to pursue advanced studies in areas of mathematics of interest to the faculty members. Academic Requirements

Students currently studying in their pre-final or final year of BSc/BE/BTech or first year MSc/ME/MTech or equivalent, with a good academic record are encouraged to apply.

Details of the Visiting/Summer Programme

  • The duration of the programme can range from 3-8 weeks, and is to be decided based on the availability of the student and faculty mentor.
  • Selected students will be paid 2nd class round trip train fare plus Rs. 200 per diem.
  • Every effort will be made to provide accommodation, subject to availability.
  • As accommodation is limited, it may not be provided for local students.
  • The programme is typically held in the summer, but in exceptional cases, the visit can be scheduled at other times, depending on the convenience of the student and faculty member.
